Responsible for supporting the operations of a University athletic program including the delivery of an outstanding team and student athlete experience, recruitment of student athletes to meet roster goals, assisting with the strategic planning of practices while also providing expertise and leadership to individual growth and development. Assist the head coach in all aspects of program administration. Ensure a healthy, positive environment for student-athlete growth and development. Assist with team scheduling and programming, public relations, academic support, and the retention of student athletes. Additional staff responsibilities within the athletic department as specified when hired. Travel is required.
Participate in the recruiting process of prospective student athletes for a specific team. Assist them with required information for admission to the school. Provide continuing conversations and contacts with prospective student athletes. Guide them through the enrollment process. Recruit student athletes who are a “good fit” for the University, as well as to the athletic program.
Work as a member of a recruitment team through support of the processes and goals of the admissions, financial aid, business and registrar’s offices. Work within the established enrollment processes to provide an efficient and smooth transition for the prospective athlete.
Support the leadership and direction of the team that is established by the head coach. Work with the athletic team as a whole, as well as with the individual needs of the team members. Work toward team unity as well as the general unity of the College. Provide regular support and direction to student athletes. Make retention of student athletes a goal and priority by providing an outstanding team experience.
Collaborate with other coaches and personnel within the athletic department. Help create a supportive working environment by supporting other programs and coaches while helping to create a family environment.
Work within the approved sport’s team budget and manage expenses during the year to assure that they remain within approved funding levels. Additionally, adhere to KCAC and NAIA regulations and guidelines.
Provide a strong academic emphasize and support of academics through your leadership and activities of the athletic team. Be mindful of the contribution the student athletes make to the College community including academic performance and participation in and contribution to non-athletic activities.
Understand the University’s policies and procedures and exercise judgment accordingly. Assure that University and student information is handled in a confidential and ethical manner in alignment with the University’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and the expectations of what makes OU a distinguishable “Christ Centered community of grace”.
Provide leadership to those with whom you work through your conduct, attitude, and professionalism. Represent the University to students, external groups, faculty and staff in a way that reflects well on the University. Support, embrace, and mentor the Christian principles of the University as well as be committed to the educational mission of the University
