Primary Duties

• Assist in advising student-athletes and staff of applicable NCAA, American Rivers Conference, and wrestling-specific rules, regulations, and University policies, and ensure compliance with such regulations.
• Assist in developing pre-season, in-season, and off-season training for the team with the Head Women’s Wrestling Coach and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
• Recruit student-athletes compatible with Buena Vista University’s mission and the specific goals of the wrestling program.
• Monitor student-athlete academic performance and implement team, Athletics department, and University measures to support their academic performance.
• Communicate with the student-athletes about academics and other matters pertaining to their enrollment and educational progress.
• Plan and direct athletics skill development for student-athletes.
• Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities. Cooperate with the University Athletic Trainers to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
• Coordinate all activities in preparation for the scheduled competition. Attend all team practices and home and away contests.
• Assume responsibility for student-athlete compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
• Assist the Head Women’s Wrestling Coach and the Athletics Director in resolving cases where a student-athlete violates an applicable regulation.
• Work with alumni student groups, University administration, and community groups to seek support for the team. Attend appropriate Athletics departmental staff meetings. Gym, facility, and field supervision.
• Other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.

Qualifications:

• Successful collegiate coaching experience. Ability to recruit qualified student-athletes.
• Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s degree in health, exercise science, or a related field is preferred.
